Music truly is universal...it transcends, culture, language, religion and ability, everyone can feel the music. I want to introduce my readers to Joy Beth, an artist that feels the music and gets it.
She delivers her music with a style thats truly unique incorporating elements even that transcend sound. Joy Beth is fresh, new and innovative.
What does music mean in this day and age? What more can be added to a largely redundant music industry?
That answer - Joy Beth "The Zebra D.I.V.A." I sat down with Joy Beth to learn more about her and to get a first hand account of her contribution to the language the universe understands - Music.
JWritesiT: Thank you for sitting down with me today Joy!
Joy Beth: No Problem. I love being a part of this!
JWritesiT: What does the name Zebra D.I.V.A. signify?
Joy Beth: Zebra for me has a lot to do with my race because I am bi-racial, a Zebra also cannot be defined by any other animal. Its a symbol of diversity.
Why D.I.V.A.? Its who I am....with a whole lot of attitude (Laughing) D.I.V.A. - D: Delightful; I: Invasive V: Vivacious A: Attitude
JWritesiT: What makes you so passionate about music?
Joy Beth: God, Life, Waking up every morning, feelings, experiences all of that forms this extreme passion.
JWritesiT: What are you currently working on?
Joy Beth: I have a project that is about to launch. Its not just going to show me as an artist, its going to define what I stand for. What I believe in and the message I am trying to get across. We are all the same, it doesn't matter if we have disabilities, race, religion, sexual orientation, whether you can't see hear or talk - we are all the same. Everyone loves music - it's the universal language.
JWritesiT: Are you pursuing your music full-time?
Joy Beth: Yes I am.
JWritesiT: How long have you loved music?
Joy Beth: Since I was 3 - that I can remember (chuckling) my heart has been behind music. Before that....(laughing) I don't remember.
JWritesiT: When did you know you wanted to aspire to be a singer?
Joy Beth: When I was.....I want to say 6 or 5? My parents entered me in an American Princess Pageant. I sang on stage and wore this pretty dress.... it was the first time I had goosebumps....my first real performance. It was the first time I felt a connection and importance to music outside of church.
JWritesiT: What comes to mind when I say the word Music?
Joy Beth: Beauty, Feelings, Emotions
JWritesiT: What sets The Zebra D.I.V.A. - Joy Beth apart from the rest of the many artists and hopefuls out there?
Joy Beth: Thats for the world to decide, all I can say is, I am myself....No one else.
JWritesiT: What would you say to the person out there reading this, that also hopes to pursue their passion for the vocal arts?
Joy Beth: Never stop being your True self, not who anyone perceives you to be. Never stop being yourself, once you lose that you lose your passion, you'll lose your artistry, you'll become nothing more than an entertainer - not an artist.
JWritesiT: What keeps you grounded?
Joy Beth: God, Music, writing, singing and love.
JWritesiT: Whats next on the Horizon for Joy Beth - The Zebra D.I.V.A.?
Joy Beth: The expected release date for my single is in the first week of May and we released a snippet of my single "R.E.A.L." last month to get everyone ready. I am also working on my album "Aspects of Joy" coming soon. You can also find me on Reverbnation, Twitter and Facebook.
